INTERVIEW

The purpose of the interview is for the judges to get to know, understand, and evaluate the girl's personality, as the titleholder will represent the program throughout the state and potentially on the national level. This is a 5 minute, panel style interview. Questions will be based off the contestants resume and other age appropriate, relevant topics. The judges will be scoring the contestants on their ability to communicate effectively, answer questions concisely, her character and personality, and overall presentation of herself. A professional dress or pantsuit is recommended.

This phase of competition is 40% of the total score. 

EVENING GOWN

The evening gown portion of the competition is an opportunity for the contestant to showcase her dress of choice that reflects her style and personality. In this category, judges will award points based on overall appearance, beauty, poise, elegance, stage presence, and charm. The monetary value of the gown does not matter, as this area of competition is more about how the girl presents herself in the gown on stage. For Junior High, a floor-length, full skirt, ballgown style gown is REQUIRED. For High School, any style, floor-length gown is acceptable and slits are allowed as long as they are BELOW the knee. For Collegiate, any style, floor length gown is acceptable, however, please remain appropriate and utilize good judgement when selecting your gown.

This phase of competition is 40% of the total score.

RUNWAY FASHION

The runway fashion portion of the competition is an opportunity for the contestant to model a fun outfit of choice that showcases their personality. This can be anything: high low dress, cocktail dress, pantsuit, etc. No swimsuits, denim, hats, or props. This "New York Fashion Week," or "High Fashion Runway." Each contestant will model their outfit on stage to high energy music and the judges will be evaluating them based on their personality, modeling ability, poise, confidence, and style.

This phase of competition is 20% of the total score. 

AGE REQUIREMENTS

Qualification and requirements for age groups are as follows:

JUNIOR HIGH:

If you are currently in 5th-8th Grade

HIGH SCHOOL:

If you are currently in 9th-11th Grade

​

COLLEGIATE:

If you are in 12th grade, college, university, beauty school, or trade school as an undergraduate or post graduate and are no older than 27 years of age.
